Circulation fluidized bed combustion (CFBC) technology is one of the emerging combustion technologies for electricity generation and produces more than , tons of CFBC fly ash (CFA) per year for combustion. CFA has been widely applied in cement additive, new building materials and cement-based materials. The main advantages of the fluidized bed combustion boilers are: reduced NOx, SOx due to relatively low combustion temperature, better efficiency and reduction in boiler size and design. It has the ability to burn low grade coal and it is less corrosive as the combustion temperature is less when compared to that of an utility boiler.
This book provides practicing engineers and students with insight into the design and operation of circulating fluidized bed (CFB) boilers. Through a combination of theoretical concepts and practical experience, this book gives the reader a basic understanding of . The materials problems in an atmospheric fluidized bed combustion (AFBC) system include the erosion and corrosion of in-bed heat exchangers and their support structure; erosion of the bed containment; and perhaps also mechanical fatigue of the heat exchanger and thermomechanical fatigue of the distributor plate and associate structure, although.
This book also examines the relevance of design and feed-stock parameters to the operation of a CFB boiler; designs of mechanical components, including cyclones, air distributor grids, and solid recycle systems; and special problems CVB boilers present with construction materials.
The materials issues in fluidized bed combustion systems are in many cases essentially similar to those in conventional pulverized coal systems. Those that are related to the technology itself include the erosion and corrosion of in-bed components, particularly the heat exchanger; the erosion of above-bed Materials problems in fluidized-bed combustion systems book the wear (perhaps accelerated by corrosion) of the solids handling systems Cited by: Chapter 5.

Conference Topics include: circulating fluidized beds, pressurized fluidized beds, fuels and sorbents, sulfur removal, emission performance, modeling of systems, materials performance, cogeneration.
Bed material agglomeration was studied experimentally in a fluidized-bed biomass combustor. Four biomass fuels, four bed materials, three bed additives, and three NOx additives were tested in a temperature range of − °C and at two pressure levels of and MPa. Two types of agglomeration were observed, a homogeneous and a heterogeneous by: Abstract.
The corrosion, erosion, and erosion-corrosion processes in the gas turbine expander following a PFBC are all matters of concern. The hot corrosion problem can probably be handled by keeping the bed temperature sufficiently low, provided that it is economically acceptable from a cycle point of view.
Corrosion of inbed components in coalburning fluidized bed combustors (fbc) is a potential matter of concern. Two types of corrosion problems were identified in early studies: sulfidation/oxidation of more highly alloyed materials at metal temperatures above °C; and accelerated oxidation, not usually apparently involving sulfidation, of lowalloy steels at lower Cited by: 8.
A fluidized bed is a physical phenomenon occurring when a quantity of a solid particulate substance (usually present in a holding vessel) is placed under appropriate conditions to cause a solid/fluid mixture to behave as a is usually achieved by the introduction of pressurized fluid through the particulate medium.
This results in the medium then having many properties. The scope concerns three main areas: § Combustion (incineration) of toxic and hazardous materials in fluidized beds § Dust explosion hazard of various bulk materials in different handling facilities containing various fuels for FBCFile Size: 69KB.

It .fluidized bed reactor in which biomass was gasified with steam and the unconverted char was combusted in the temperature range – ° C. Three bed materials (sand, olivine and bauxite) and two biomass fuels (forestry residue and wheat straw) were studied.• GFBCC. Gasification fluidized-bed combustion combined cycle systems, GFBCC, have a pressurized circulating fluidized-bed (PCFB) partial gasifier feeding fuel syngas to the gas turbine topping combustor.
The gas turbine exhaust supplies combustion air for the atmospheric circulating fluidized-bed combustor that burns the char from the PCFB.
